Beeyatch. . .

Stitched, laundered, currently drying. Not too bad for a couple hours. Hopefully my eyes will un-cross any time now.

Design from the Book Subversive Cross Stitch by Julie Jackson

Hmmmmm

So I managed to make a letter. Maybe a mimosa isn't necessary? And as tedious as the stitching is, would likely prove disasterous to my fine motor skills!

What Are the Odds

This will drive me to a mimosa in about half an hour?

Shadow Box Project

A sneak peek at the end result.

Shadow Box Project

A hand painted wooden egg is secured with industrial strength epoxy. It needs a day or two to cure. That should give me enough time to figure out the hanger issue on the flip side.

Oh Expletive!!!

See where the hangers are? See where the clothes pin is?

Um yeah, the pin is the "top" of the flip side.

Paying the eff attention doesn't hurt when you're doing this sort of thing..

Saturday Projects

Decided the egg I have could work if I could fill out the space just a tad. I'm using some shiney faced ribbon in a cool, deep garnet. I think this will make the brilliant blue egg pop and not get lost with the background pattern.

Remember This Project?

The shadow box from a few weeks back is one step closer completion. I need to figure out for sure what should go in it. I think the eggs I have are just a tad too small. It begs for something torquiose or Tiffany blue.

Oh Hell What Now?!

I know. I know. I have issues!

I have an infatuation with eclectic items that still have a hints of tradition and I seem to find inspiration in nature.

A while back, I hand painted wooden eggs to resemble bird eggs and arranged them in a shadow box. It turned out pretty well. So I bought a bunch of shadow boxes. (Do you sense a pattern?). Some were on clearance. . .aka beat up.

That's ok cause I planned to beat them up even more! Here, the finish is too glossy for what I want and it made the knicks stand out too much anyway.

So I'm using some heavy grit sandpaper to rough it up, make it dull, scratched, etc. I'm basically putting some age on this mass produced MDF frame.

A finer grit (if I can find any) will fine tune it and then I'm going to slap some kind of paint on it. Browns with hints of gold leaf maybe?

(PS DIYers, if you're going to paint on this type of finish, you likely need to give it a light sanding regardless so your paint "sticks" to the glossy spray coat)

This frame is 5 by 7. Which could be my IQ after inhaling this paint dust! Who knows what it is? Where is CIH C? Far far away on the third floor. He is very wise indeed!

My "Little" Helper

Why he tries to wedge himself into this basket, I have no idea.

Spooky did not turn out so spooky!

Oh well. . .maybe I'm just an incurable optimist!

Birds with Twigs and Berries

Ready for more good old Elmers glue!

New Project

Start of Birds with Twigs and Berries. A little more adult but still whimsical. At least that's the plan!
